CLASSICAL ART
Classical Art is commonly defined as art from western antiquity.
This covers a wide variety of styles and mediums ranging from painting to sculpture to architecture and literature.
Generally speaking, Classical art refers to the art of the Greeks and the Romans.
The art of Greece goes through several periods and one of these is Classical.
However, in general terms, Classical art typically refers to anything that is not a part of the modern
art world – which usually refers to anything older than the 1900s. So, essentially we are looking at art movements such as
Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, Mannerist, Romantic, etc. This would include Raphael, Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Van Gogh, Goya, etc.
