ART DECO MURAL
Tides Hotel Lobby, Miami Beach, Florida, 2013 Design approved by the City of Miami Historic Preservation Department
The City of Miami Historic Preservation Department requested an Art Deco mural to depict a fusion of elements
characteristic both to the South Beach Art Deco style and to the hotel lobby’s design.
The Tides Hotel is located in the historic Art Deco Historic District in Miami Beach, and its exterior has been inspired by the 1930s Art Deco style.
The mural is a blend of abstracted tropical motifs for which South Beach is known for: the sunny beaches
and the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, seashells, the elegant palm fronds, and of course, its vibrantly colored architecture with geometric patterns.
The mural was painted on canvas and installed on the lobby’s walls in two days.

“We hired Georgeta for a custom paint project on the keel bulb of a racing sailboat belonging to a client. She was very professional and worked with us to get the design exactly as we wanted it. She was also super flexible about using the marine paint that was required for the job. Once the work started, she was incredibly efficient and actually finished ahead of schedule. The result was excellent and was identical to the presented design. We would absolutely work with Georgeta again and highly recommend her for custom paintwork.” Brad Magovsky, AREA 51 Global Logistics

About Art Deco Architecture in Florida.
“Reaching its “heyday” in the early 1920s and 1930s, Art Deco architecture is a modern take on neoclassical,
one that is equally historic, retro, and fabulous. Making its first debut in Paris in 1925, today, the style is marked
by its characteristic bright colors, from pastel blues and pinks to bright oranges, vibrant yellows, greens, and more.
Buildings in the typical Art Deco style feature exotic flora and fauna motifs inside, along with prominent structural gems,
like geometric fountains or statues. Whimsical pastel buildings are embellished with glamorous features,
from porthole windows and shiny curves to glass blocks, chrome accents, and terrazzo floors.“
