ART FOR SACRED SPACES – CUSTOM MURALS ON CANVAS
Saint Anastasia Catholic Church | 2024 | Fort Pierce Florida
I am excited to announce a new body of work from the Sacred Spaces Series: the two murals on canvas, “The Annunciation” (location unknown), inspired by the Italian Baroque artist Giovanni Odazzi (1663-1731) and “Mary’s Visit to Elizabeth” from the Frederiksborg Palace Collection, inspired by the Danish Carl Bloch. I had the pleasure of collaborating with the church on this project, which was a challenging and rewarding journey from painting the canvases in my studio to installing them within the beautifully renovated church. After the installation, I designed and hand-painted faux trompe l’oeil metallic gold frames with shadows to give them a realistic feel. The new artwork adds depth and elegance to the space, blending seamlessly with the church’s serene and inspiring atmosphere. This project has been a rewarding journey, from painting the canvases in my studio to installing them within the beautifully renovated church.
