ASIAN MURAL

Boca Raton Community High School, Florida

Coming soon!

It was the teacher Andrew Sloan, who teaches the Latinos in Action elective course, who came up with the idea of painting a mural

that would focus on diversity and inclusivity, based on the Latinos in Action motto – “We Are a Familia”

The school’s administration embraced the idea and decided to paint a total of four murals on four stairwell walls: Latino Mural, African-American Mural, Asian Mural, and European Mural.

The murals’ purpose is to educate and inspire, instill pride in the students and encourage them to share stories
about their history and their home countries, and speak about their dreams and aspirations.

The process: two workshops with the students for each mural project to brainstorm for ideas, concept designs created by the artist based on students’ ideas and suggestions, and mural painting with students’ assistance.

The first in the series, the Latino Mural was revealed virtually on August 6, 2021.
