Interactive murals have become a popular art form in recent years that encourages active engagement from viewers. These murals are meant to create an immersive andplayful experiencefor the audience, turning the viewers from passive observers into active participants in the artwork. In this blog post, I would like to discuss two murals in my Public Art Portfolio: Wall Mural in the Park, located in the Community Center at Westwind Park, Lauderhill, and the Be a Butterfly Interactive Mural at Patch of Heaven Sanctuary, Florida.
TheBe a Butterfly Muralat Patch of Heaven Sanctuary in Redland, Florida, is a great example of the magic of ‘interactive murals’. The monumental scale of the Swallowtail Butterfly, Monarch Butterfly, and Zebra Butterfly is the key feature that captures visitors’ attention and curiosity. By enlarging the butterflies to larger-than-life proportions, the mural immediately becomes eye-catching and invites people to explore and interact with the artwork in so many ways! It makes me feel accomplished to see the smiling faces of the visitors. As an artist, there is no greater reward than knowing that my work brings joy, inspiration, and happiness to those who experience it.

The playful nature of the mural allows visitors, like the girl in the photo below, to become part of the scene. Same with the youth in front of the Wall Mural in the Park. They can pose, take selfies, or have their pictures taken in front of the mural, creating joyful and memorable moments. I notice that this kind of interaction fosters a sense of connection between the viewers and the art, making the experience more personal and enjoyable.

The main goal forinteractive muralslike the Be the Butterfly Mural, create a sense of wonder and delight, making people question and appreciate the beauty of the natural world. This is a large-scale, site-specific mural and it serves as a unique backdrop for social media posts, encouraging visitors to share their experiences and spread the word about the artwork and its location.

They offer an opportunity for active participation and transform ordinary spaces into memorable andinteractive installations. Wall murals like these, appeal to people of all ages, making them a popular attraction in public spaces, parks, museums, and other venues.
The success of the “Be a Butterfly” mural in engaging viewers lies in its thoughtful and multifaceted approach. By combining interactive elements with educational content, the mural offers a dynamic experience that not only entertains but also educates the audience about butterflies’ life cycle.
The invitation to “be a butterfly” is a playful concept that immediately captures the viewers’ interest. This participatory aspect allows the visitors at Patch of Heaven Sanctuary to emotionally connect with the artwork, imagining themselves as a butterfly.
The incorporation of educational content, specifically about the life cycle of butterflies, adds depth and meaning to the interactive experience. Viewers not only enjoy posing and taking photos with the monumental butterflies but also gain knowledge about these endangered species.
The mural’s success is evident in people of all ages’ engagement, as seen in the photo of the young couple enjoying themselves while posing for a picture. Their voluntary participation in interacting with the mural demonstrates how the artwork has achieved its initial purpose of engaging the viewers. It makes me happy as an artist, that the mural sparks joy, curiosity, and learning, making it a memorable and meaningful experience for all the visitors.

My goal was to create an interactive mural that combines entertainment and education so it leaves a lasting impression on viewers. A mural that can evoke emotions, inspire learning, and create a sense of connection between the audience and the art. This kind of immersive experience is becoming increasingly popular these days, making art more accessible and enjoyable for people of all ages and backgrounds.
Overall, interactive murals, like the “Be a Butterfly Mural,” bring joy, playfulness, and creativity to the art world, creating unforgettable moments for viewers and leaving a lasting impression on those who experience them. OFFICE MURALS AND BRAND EXPERIENCES
Choosing the office mural design that meticulously represents your brand
Many people spend most of their time during the work week in an office. And although the human factor plays a very important role in creating the working atmosphere, the look of the office itself contributes, too. But apart from having an impact on the workers, the place’s aesthetics has a great influence on how the clients perceive your business.
If you are willing to elevate the atmosphere of your office and thus enhance the workers’ and clients’ satisfaction, I am here to present you with the idea of office murals. This form of art is something I frequently use to transform public spaces and inspire the community. For instance, for one of the Garden of Life conference rooms, I was provided a design to resemble a treehouse, which I painted in a realistic, trompe l’oeil style, adding warmth to the atmosphere.
Trompe L’oeil Treehouse Mural, Garden of Life Conference Room. Palm Beach Gardens, Florida
Being an experienced professional mural painter, I have developed a sharp sense of noticing how a certain space can improve its appearance. Using the power of this type of art, I am driven by my ever-lasting passion for transforming business areas in a way that uplifts the overall atmosphere and creates a base ground for enhanced engagement. My expertise comes from working with both interior and exterior settings and covers interactive murals, large-scale wall murals, as well as 3D installations. All of these can be applied as office mural designs – it just depends on your personal preferences and your business’s nature. In one of the Garden of Life conference rooms, I painted a darts game to enhance the interactive and fun ambiance.

How office murals improve the brand experiences
Wall applications that are part of office mural design are a special type of wall art dedicated to becoming a central point in the room. These visual masterpieces are usually combined with simple decor aesthetics in order to live up to their maximum potential in influencing clients.
Regardless of the size of the space – or the business’ scale, – brand mural paintings are often used to reinforce corporate branding and communicate the message better. So, not only do the corporate murals open and liven the office space, but they combine the brand’s identity with its mission and values. Office murals are used to better convey the message your business is trying to spread and put it in an impactful position so no customer can overlook it.
For example, I worked on an amazing project for the Garden of Life. For this B Corp B the Change company, I enhanced the aesthetic with a corporate mural that portrays a nonprofit organization that uses the power of its business as a force for good. The mural features green fields and logos, conveying the right image and ideology of their business.
Corporate Mural B the CHANGE, Garden of Life Headquarters, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida
Although the transition usually takes quite some time, I need to ensure the process is meticulous so that the final result corresponds to the brand identity. The murals I design for companies that operate in multiple locations have a shared theme that can create a sense of relatedness and belonging. Apart from their message, these signage murals also create a so-called “tribe” effect, enhancing the bond and improving mutual collaboration. In the end, remaking your office by including a unique wall design is not only something that will attract potential customers; instead, it will create a complete brand experience that the employees will appreciate just as well. As with thecorporate mural for Garden of Life, I combined all the ingredients together to completely resemble their vision, showcasing them as a unified team with a strong brand identity.

Choosing the office mural design that meticulously represents your brand
I cannot stress enough how important it is to choose a wall design that completely corresponds to your brand’s idea and mission. Look at your visual identity as the clothes you wear. Just as your individual styling preference represents your personality, the office murals you choose will be the ultimate graphic portrayal of your brand. It depicts an image and shows exactly who you are and your field of expertise. Your working space is perhaps the most impactful way to capture the essence of your brand, so choosing an appropriate office mural design plays a principal role in illustrating your business’ aim. It doesn’t even have to be an office; it can be a hallway or even a lobby like thisGarden of Life mural. The mural greets the company’s visitors and clients with a pleasant yet impressive realistic portrayal of their dedication to quality products.

Before I provide you with the office murals suggestions you can consider implementing, I must give you one final remark – no matter the option you end up choosing, be sure that you are guided by the intention of detailed portraying your company’s values. Your ultimate design pick should not only perfectly fit your office space, but should also denote your general working and brand culture.
Below are several broad ideas to have in mind:
Colorful office mural art
Implementing vibrant colors will liven up your office space and create a refreshing contrast. If your brand allows being represented by bright hues, consider dedicating an entire focal wall to hold the mural style you chose. Even if your office space does not allow for allocating a whole wall for your art execution, do some strategic planning and pick a smaller section that will generate the same strong impact among your employees and customers.
For instance, the Garden of Life murals depict the perfect image of the company’s brand, which focuses on good health and nutrition. The office was completely refreshed with vibrant colors, enlivening the atmosphere in the room with a fresh contrast.

Understated office murals
In the case where your brand identity does not authorize the implementation of colorful compositions, opting for a conservative design is also a viable option. You may wish to embellish separate sections of your office differently, and evoke a particular message depending on the purpose of the specific area. For example, you can achieve a downed tone atmosphere by incorporating office murals in muted tones, such as grey, tan, or dusty pink. A great example would be the Art Deco Mural that I painted for Tides Hotel in Miami Beach, a project approved by the City of Miami Historic Preservation Department. The mural depicts a fusion of elements characteristic of the South Beach Art Deco style and of the hotel lobby’s design.

Geographical office murals
This is the perfect option if you also want to include a hint of the geographical area your business is situated in – along with portraying your company’s objectives. Of course, you can realize this vision by including a map of your city, a street sign, or maybe a famous landmark. Even if you don’t want to showcase a literal presentation of the chosen memorial, you can achieve the same effect by subtly incorporating a segment that will evoke the same reminiscence. A wonderful example of such a segment is the bottom photos of themural on the ceiling, featuring the old world map.

Redesigning your office space through signage
Signage murals are yet another way to decorate and enhance your office. You can use this medium to visually enhance policies and guidelines, employ different colors to accentuate or separate different office areas, or even use wall art to give directions. This is not exactly related to your company’s aims. However, it will still work on enhancing its identity by making people identify and link the specific style of your working environment with your brand’s name. As an example, take a look at the signage from the Treehouse Mural for the Garden of Life with various elements that signify their policies, beliefs, and vision.

Interactive Mural Ideas for Gardens
Interactive murals have been gaining popularity in recent years. As the name suggests, it is an interactive art form that allows the viewer to play and interact with it. They must be designed to be fun and to maximize the amount of time that people spend interacting with them. Therefore, the viewer’s engagement and actions are an integral part of this form of art. The image below shows a photo of a girl enjoying herself while posing for a picture in front of the swallowtail butterfly in the “Be a Butterfly Mural”at Patch of Heaven Sanctuary in Redland, Florida. The fun part of this mural is the monumental scale of the butterflies, which makes the visitors want to spend time admiring them, questioning their species, and wishing to take selfies or photos in front of them.

The “Be a Butterfly” mural engages the viewers through its content: it invites them to enjoy the experience of ‘being a butterfly’, but also learn about butterflies’ life cycle. The mural involves the spectator creating a unique and engaging experience, thus achieving its initial purpose. The observer seems to be sufficiently engaged and voluntarily performs the actions to which the work responds.

Even though interactive art and interactive murals have been predominantly used in street art, their recent popularity has allowed for an expansion and broadening of their use, bringing them as close to you as your garden’s gate. For now, I will give you five ideas for interactive garden murals to hopefully inspire you to upgrade your garden and make it more attractive. I will be bringing you more interactive mural ideas for gardens in my next blog.
Cultural Heritage Mural
When thinking about a theme for an interactive wall mural for your space, your own garden, a school’s garden, or a community garden, one good idea would be to incorporate an aspect of your cultural heritage. Using the potency of this type of art, you can successfully create mural designs that honor your culture and history. Images of traditional clothing, monuments, or other items representing your ancestral roots create inspirational garden mural ideas. Painting fragments from a traditional carnival or a parade is also a viable option that will make your interactive garden murals look even more lively. The mural can be realistic or abstract, depending on your preference.
An example of a cultural heritage mural would be my wall mural Lauderhill Story, located in the City of Lauderhill’s East side hallways, adjacent to the City’s Chamber. Because the wall is curved, the mural is presented in images from different angles to capture a sense of the mural as a whole.
Lauderhill Story, Public Art, Mural on the East Curved Wall, City of Lauderhill, Lauderhill, Florida
For this project, I got my inspiration from the Classical art of Greece (theGreek Parthenon, being built on democratic principles) and from old Florida architecture. The mural depicts a view from a porch with two ‘wings’ – on the left, aKey West-style porchwith gingerbread designs, and on the right, a Classical-style porch with Ionic columns and balustrade.

The ornamental band on the upper side of the mural comes from the once-colorful Greek Parthenon and it gives the mural a formal and elegant look. On the left of the mural, there is a waterfall, followed by the Inverrary Golf Course. A peacock, cricket, and football attributes, the city hall building, and the US, Florida, and Lauderhill flags were also added to this cultural heritage public mural.

Floral Garden Romantic Mural
Almost every one of you has dreamt of a lush and vivid-colored garden at least once in your life. And if you still haven’t found the space or time to create such lovely surroundings, you can achieve the same romantic effect with interactive garden murals. The interactive wall mural below, “In the Park” is featured in the Community Center of West Wind Park, Lauderhill, Florida. It was inspired by Westwind Park nature, a place with singing birds, geese, ducks, ibises, woodpeckers, mockingbirds, blue jays, and butterflies. This interactive mural is definitely a great idea for a floral garden romantic mural! It can be a patio mural, a garden mural, or even a pool mural. It all depends on what ideas you have in mind and I will make sure that your dream comes true.
Wall Mural “In the Park”, Westwind Park, Lauderhill, Florida
Think about painting a beautiful and serene scenery, delicate florals, or a field of daisies. Portraying a man rowing in a gondola, or a couple taking a romantic stroll will also serve as a good way to illustrate the romantic feel you wish to achieve. No matter the idea to decide on, make sure to display it in clear view. The images below represent some closeups of the same mural, painted in a realistic, trompe l’oeil style, to suggest depth and make it appealing to the eye.

Minimalist Garden Mural Ideas
Minimalist interactive garden murals are the perfect choice for everyone who wants to make their yard a relaxing and peaceful place. To achieve this, choose minimal mural designs incorporating simple paintings or a few colors and textures. This will liven up your garden space without making it look excessive.
Animal Garden Mural Ideas
For every animal lover, a fauna garden design is perhaps the best choice. Not only do the animals make it easier to create depth and structure of interactive murals, but they are also a great tool to use when you want to liven and brighten up your garden space. In addition, they allow you to incorporate different themes – from tropical to aquatic. Selecting vibrant colors for these designs will open up the garden space and create an illusion of a place full of light.
You can go with a rainforest mural with its lovely inhabitants, elevating your outdoor or indoor aesthetic, and showcasing an awe-inspiring piece that will both astound and soothe your senses. Regardless of your ideas, you can share them with me, and I will ensure they are translated into reality.

Spiritual Mural Ideas
If you are into spirituality, a good idea would be to choose a design that will represent peace and tranquility. Creating a spiritual garden means that you need to select from a variety of interactive murals that symbolize your beliefs and that have a special meaning for you. Consider drawing inspiration from certain concepts, such as Yin and Yang, or other religious objects, such as mandalas, temples, or cathedrals. Embellishing your painting with a dreamcatcher or a dove also makes a fine addition that will better capture your spiritual vision.

Destination Interactive Garden Mural Ideas
Opting for a mural that represents a city or landscape you love can be a great inspiration to translate into your interactive wall murals. For example, city murals are a good medium that can put you into a separate headspace. You can simply pick a landmark that is representative of the town or area you admire and have it included in your garden mural.

This can serve as a pleasant escape to your destination place, or allow you to mentally travel and re-live the feeling you once experienced – all this from the comforts of your own backyard. A lovely example is public art garden murals, adding life to communities, where people can interact with the mural content, like identifying plants, herbs, etc.

Serene Mural Design Ideas
Speaking of relaxing places, you can make your yard an idyllic and tranquil place you will visit to calm your nerves or simply enjoy the peace and quiet. And having eye-pleasing interactive art to look at will soothe your mind and senses and help you feel calm. This is the main reason why choosing a serene design for your garden mural is an idea you should think about. You can opt for a mural that depicts the serenity of animals, like horses. The image below is a detail of a mural on canvas inspired by the Southwest Ranches, Florida, and is celebratingLowe’s Centennial.
Lowe’s Centennial Mural with Horses Grazing on Ranch
Another mural idea with horses is the mural on canvas installed in a residential home in Mexico City. See a mural detail below.
Residential MURAL ON CANVAS inspired by Rubens’ Hippopotamus and Crocodile Hunt, Mexico City.
The tranquil effect can be simply achieved by opting for a two-toned palette and intertwining the colors with different textures. Another option is to work with contrasting colors that will provide vibrant aesthetics or incorporate a realistic water fountain painting that will have the same soothing effect as making a garden fountain. In addition, landscapes showcasing the sea can be incredibly calming, like these Mediterranean murals. They simply draw you in, making you daydream about the tranquil blue waters.
Rain and sunlight are the main factors that can significantly damage your interactive garden murals. Continuous sun exposure can fade or even bleach the vibrant colors you chose for your wall art, and the heat can cause the adhesive layer to weaken and crack. On the other hand, repeated exposure to moisture and rainfall can form water pockets and slacken the adhesive. In those cases, mural restoration is needed, and you can learn more about it here.

No matter the design that you choose for your interactive wall murals, it is important that you are familiar with how you can extend their durability. By simply adding a laminate to the wall, you will protect the interactive art from the harmful impact of heat and humidity. It acts as an additional layer of support that extends the lifespan of your mural art.
Sepia Mural Restoration, Boca Raton, Florida
As you can see, creating an interactive space and elevating your outdoor atmosphere does not require extensive resources or architectural changes. You can give life and radiance to your garden wall by incorporating one of the mural ideas I have mentioned above. Simply pick the mural type that resonates with your soul, preferences, and lifestyle. Do not hesitate to contact me if you are looking for more interactive garden murals ideas! Why hand-painted wall murals are popular and lasting
Mural Artist Georgeta Fondos in front of her public art mural at Westwind Park Community Center, Lauderhill, Florida
In life, as in art – originality is key. Society has come to realize that murals have become a big part of the art scene, evoking a unique atmosphere through hand-painted artistry; so nowadays everyone wants one! This is why it is not uncommon for people to turn to wall murals in order to spruce up their home or office décor. Because their popularity increased and you are already curious why, in this blog, I will share everything you need to know about them.
How come the wall murals have become so popular?
The mural in question can be anything from a classical design to contemporary art to anything you set your heart on – this is one of the main reasons why murals have become so popular. It is a way of adding identity to any space. This will be the artwork that will infuse your space with your own personality. For example, if you are a lover of nature themes, botanical aesthetics in particular; opting for a botanical-inspired mural will reflect your personality. When other people enter your room, they can immediately feel that it is your place, feel your personality… the space features your own authentic flair. Or if you are in love with a certain classical period, why not incorporate that into your personal space? The sky is the limit! Below see a few examples of murals that adorn my clients’ homes for years!

In essence, the beauty of the mural is that you can customize it to your wishes. This is what makes it even easier for any client – the possibilities are endless. Since a bespoke hand-painted wall mural always catches the eye of the beholder, people have leaned more toward the option of having one.

In short, murals make a striking impression and give you the benefit of having a unique design tailored to your wishes – this is how they became popular!
Are hand-painted murals durable?
Every hand-painted mural is created with the highest precision and care. Even in those cases where a minimalistic modern design is used, that somehow seems easy to create, precision and layering of paint are significant. The best thing about hand-painted custom murals is – they are highly durable. The execution process is so much more than just doing a wall painting. I choose colors that last for a long period, and cannot be damaged or removed easily, so the mural will be a cool and durable piece of art. Also, I paint my murals in many layers, which is important not only for the mural’s durability but also for its richness.
If you wish for something modern and edgy yet elegant, like a fluorescent mural – the same rule applies here as well. As an artist, I only use high-quality colors that will compose an artwork that will be durable – even if it is a fluorescent wall painting! Or, if you wish for vibrant tones that will reflect yourcorporate brand, every single brush stroke, and color used will be tailored in the name of durability!

Why is a hand-painted wall mural more durable than wallpaper? How will a customized mural affect the home or the business?
Hand-painted murals are a durable solution to any space – more durable than wallpaper. The effect you will get from having a hand-painted bespoke mural in your home or office will be – the quality of materials, proper layering of the paints, creativity, and consistency.
From a domestic point of view, this is a way of showing your creativity and making your ideas come to life. Adding a tranquilizing piece, such as a hand-painted custom wall painting in any room of your home, or on a patio by the pool; will give out a sense of personality and pride. As with any other authentic piece in the home, a custom mural will be treated as an extension of your vision. It will reflect who you are and how you feel. You can also choose to have the outside of your residence painted, the halls, or anything you wish – and it will be equally durable! It also doesn’t have to feature bold tones, in fact, it can be subtle yet strikingly beautiful like this elegant and inviting tropical sepia theme below that I had the privilege to restore after a water leak damaged half of the wall.

From a business point of view, having a hand-painted mural in the office can easily attract social media attention or simply elevate the atmosphere. People are always attracted to genius ideas and creative spaces. Once a person sets foot in the office, they will know they have come to the right place. You will transform the office, and people will feel it – both the employees and the clients. Have a look at this custom wall mural for the Garden of Life LLC Lobby. What do you think? The murals have, until now, been reserved for only certain areas – such as the living rooms. However, as times change, and society develops, hand-painted murals have become more and more popular, in all areas. You can easily spot these modern designs on the side of a building, in a hospital, in an office space, in a lobby, in a bedroom, on the side of a house, or even on a ceiling! From Chinoiserie-inspired themes to a fluorescent aesthetic that adds a unique flair, you can opt for anything your heart desires. Even for a hand-painted barn door in your bedroom like in the image below!

Not only have people found it extremely refreshing to have a bespoke mural in their home or workspace, but the artists benefit from this too! Artists and designers love having an impact on making any space important and coming up with great ideas like Classical, Modern, Meditteranean, or Art Deco styles. Whether it is a commercial or domestic space, an eye-catching wall painting is a perfect type of artwork to add.

How to commission a wall mural?
When someone gets in touch with me about a mural, the first thing I do is set an appointment. This is where I discuss the site, size, budget, and vision of the client. I try to touch base on likes and dislikes, design, and aesthetics. We then discuss paints to be used in the mural, wall preparation, sealing the mural, and other small details. I love to tackle every detail individually and make sure that everything is covered! Let’s say you wish to have a nature theme in your room, I will discuss every aspect, from the theme to the rest of the details.

After that, a design is made, digital or hand-painted, which the client guides me through by selecting favorite elements. This is how I narrow down the choice and make sure the vision can be seamlessly translated into reality! Sometimes only some small alterations are made, such as a change of shade of color, or only one design element. After the design has been approved, the next stage is the execution of the mural – the best part of the process of commissioning a wall mural!
How to choose what type of wall mural you want?
Before choosing the type of mural you want, you need to know that there are some design rules that you should stick to. When you are looking for a bespoke mural, you want your personality to shine through it. Your mural can be hand-painted with patterns, colors, and textures in a chic modern style, or it could be breathtaking scenes like an Italian or a Meditteranean landscape. Wall murals could change your walls in an instant with a simple mural design. For example, if you love the art-deco style, or a minimalist style, I can create a similar style design that would complete your space – a bedroom, living, room, nursery, or an outdoor mural. The image below shows the view of the center panel (out of three total panels) – an Art Deco mural that I painted on canvas, which I adhered to the wall with my team. The mural is featured in the Tides Hotel Lobby in South Beach. Because the hotel is an Art Deco-style building, located in the historic Art Deco District, the design had to be approved by the City of Miami Historic Preservation Department.

The beauty of a hand-painted mural can awe-inspire anyone who looks at it, without ever actually disrupting the harmony of the space. Not everything needs to match – take this as a starting point. Look through modern designs or romantic landscapes as an inspiration. If you are stuck and you are not sure about the mural style, I can assist. We can go through my murals portfolio, and I will be happy to provide some suggestions and ideas if you need the initial push into the brainstorming phase. There is a vast range of designs for you to choose from. You could browse through thousands of pins on Pinterest, create a board, and start saving your ideas. Moreover, there are many options of mural designs online to choose from and an endless list of mural styles! For instance, if you are looking for a wall mural for a small room, I can design a mural that will open up your space with scenery that will make it appear more spacious, for example, a forest or a landscape scene. This will bring the outdoors inside and will add more depth in your space.

How to use landscape murals to show your culture & heritage.
Many people want to express their roots in home décor. Sometimes it’s through subtle ways, such as a Tuscan-inspired finish… and sometimes it’s unquestionable, like the mural of Southwest Ranches, a town known for its serene pastures and equestrian farms. In celebration ofLowe’s centennial, Lowe’s worked with local artists to develop 100 murals that represent the vibrancy of unique communities across America. I was fortunate to be invited to paint the mural for the Lowe’s store in Southwest Ranches, 6600 Dykes Road.
Lowe’s Centennial Mural with Horses Grazing on Ranch
The inspiration for my mural came from Lowe’s company’s mission: serving the community with the best service and value. The mural is a celebration of Lowe’s centennial through a vibrant landscape with grazing horses on a ranch, a flying blue heron, flowers, and trees. My goal was to represent the uniqueness of the Southwest Broward community, with farms, equestrian ranches, and family homes.

Another client, who hails from a family whose history runs deep in the equestrian community, commissioned a trompe l’oeil mural of a horse stable for their game room. Per the client’s request, the mural depicts a horse stable in a Wyoming landscape, made in the lodgepole pine style with the Grand Teton Range in the background. For the horses, we featured their own prized horses, calf, and handlers! Not only is this trompe l’oeil mural just stunning, but it has the added benefit of making the narrow space more spacious and inviting!
Custom Residential Mural with Stable, Horses, Foal, and Wyoming Landscape
Landscape murals, depicting places such as Italy and Greece are very popular with my clients — people of Mediterranean and Italian descent are innumerable in South Florida alone, so it is no wonder that they appreciate these beautiful places and love to see them on their walls at home or at a business.
My client in Lantana, Florida, wanted to feel surrounded by the Greek Islands of Santorini in her cabana room by the pool. She wanted to bring this beautiful place that she’s visited many times to the comfort of her own home. We focused our design on what she loved about the rooftop views in Santorini: the sailboats, rocky coastline, immaculate blue water, and the iconic blue dome rooftops! We chose a loose, colorful, painterly style that’s still realistic, and painted it in the trompe l’oeil style, to give it the illusion of a real rooftop. After which, the client installed beams and columns to complete the look.
Broward County is also teeming with the beautiful cultures of Central America and the Caribbean! My client in Parkland, Florida, wanted to bring Costa Rica’s calming nature to his home… by turning his backyard into arainforest. The impressionistic style was a perfect fit to complement the texture of the stucco wall. Soon the empty wall was vibrant with lush rainforest scenery and various rainforest wildlife – Blue Morpho Butterflies, a Poison Dart Frog, a Brown-Throated Three-Toed Sloth, a Mountain Gorilla, a flying Scarlet Macaw, a Howler Monkey, and others.
Some clients want to express their nationality with scenes iconic to their cultures, such as a mural of Venice’s canals, or Tuscany’s vine-covered hills. Often my clients inquire about subjects that demand recreating famous paintings, or they want to create a version of their own, like this mural restoration project for a tennis court, in Palm Beach, Florida. This wall mural is a combination of Michelangelo’s Doni Tondo and other elements from 18th-century artist Nicolas Poussin, a leader in the classical French Baroque style. The client wanted to turn this flat wall into a magnificent view, with a colorful mural, a combination of two major styles – Renaissance and Baroque.
RESIDENTIAL MURAL after Michelangelo’s Doni Tondo, Palm Beach, Florida
However, this opulent, luxurious scenic mural that you see was actually completely repainted by me. The homeowners had hired a muralist to paint the original mural in 2007. Unfortunately, the mural was severely damaged because of poor wall preparation and improper maintenance. The client had a busy schedule and would visit and stay at this residence once or twice a year for short amounts of time. Unfortunately, the maintenance team was not aware of how to approach this artwork maintenance: they used bleach to pressure wash the wall, which made the wall deteriorate and peel and the colors crack and fade. Once the damage was done, I was called in to restore it completely. Read more on murals maintenance and restoration here
Residential Outdoor Mural Deteriorated by Florida Weather Conditions, Palm Beach, Florida
No matter where your mural is, it needs to be painted properly to withstand time.Whether it’s indoor or outdoor, mural surfaces need to be prepared with high-quality, lightfast, compatible materials and sealed with the right sealant. Without these steps, many factors will eventually damage your murals, such as humidity, UV rays, and general wear and tear of time.
The residential rooftop mural below is a great example of an outdoor mural that could easily deteriorate. This mural is in close proximity to Deerfield Beach and is facing the ocean. The mural gest sunlight all morning until 2 pm. Luckily, the client has been very diligent about this mural’s maintenance. She used my recommendations and makes sure that the mural is varnished once a year with two coats of varnish. After six years the mural looks the same, with no significant changes in color or in appearance.
Residential Mural with MASONIC SYMBOLS Deerfield Beach Florida
I highly recommend murals’ annual maintenance; if murals are neglected for years and regular maintenance is disregarded, the color will crack and fade, and the wall might peel, like in this indoorSepia Tropical Paradiso Mural. While this mural was inside, it was still susceptible to the UV rays from the windows and humidity present in the room. Therefore, we needed to scrape the mural of its peeling paint, treat the wall and repaint the mural in order to restore it.
Sepia Mural Restoration, Boca Raton, Florida
For outdoor murals, proper surface preparation, paints, sealants, and annual check-ups are even more important, because they are exposed to so much more damaging conditions than indoor murals! Outdoor murals are susceptible to extreme weather, and they can last from eight to twenty years, depending on how it was painted, how it is being maintained, and their location relative to the sun. If an outdoor mural is located directly in the sun, such as theMural on the Tennis Court, the UV rays will fade and deteriorate the binders in the paint, primer and sealant, causing cracking and color fading. If a mural deteriorates, repainting or restoring is a must.

Outdoor mural maintenance tip: If you hire a professional mural artist, make sure you are informed about all necessary steps in preserving an outdoor mural.
This tennis court mural takes an otherwise commonplace space and turns it into an opulent, luxurious outdoor space. It is an elevated expression of my client’s Tuscan heritage, which is where his family immigrated from in the 20th century. I completely restored this outdoor mural for them after being exposed to the South Florida elements for many years.

Mural painting on canvas is a 3,000 years-old technique calledmarouflage.Canvases are painted offsite, then mounted on the wall by Georgeta or a wallpaper installer. Georgeta paints on pre-shrunk canvas and fixes it to the wall with environmentally safe yet sturdy adhesive. Marouflage canvases do not crack and can be safely removed and reinstalled if needed. Their only limitation is that they cannot wrap around corners.

Tides Hotel lobbyin Miami Beach, Florida, inquired for a mural for their historic building’s lobby. Georgeta designed a one-of-a-kindtropical art deco pattern, using abstracted seashells and palms in pastel tones. She incorporated the historic character of the building with the Hotel’s vision. Once her preliminary design was decided, Georgeta painted the pattern by hand onto 3 large canvases, one for each wall, and applied it onto the lobby walls with her team.

Trompe l’oeil trim is another popular mural for ceilings, archways, and walls.
Trompe l’oeil is French for “to fool the eye” and in decorative painting, it is used to paint sceneries, faux trim, molding, and sculptural reliefs in a way that they look real. The major benefit of Trompe l’oeil, besides being gorgeous to look at, is that painted crown molding on ceilings adds dimension without the need to hire a contractor. Trompe l’oeil trim pairs beautifully with a lovely landscape; they can add atmosphere and dimension to your home or business. Check out this ceiling mural, Florida Impressions, painted on the rotunda ceiling at the City of Lauderhill.
FLORIDA IMPRESSIONS DOME IN ROTUNDA MURAL, Public Art, City of Lauderhill Chamber, Lauderhill, Florida
For this ceiling mural project, Georgeta fused the once colorful Greek Parthenon with the flora and fauna of South Florida. The trompe l’oeil technique adds depth and makes the viewer perceive the whole dome appear lifelike. As you can see below or here, the mockup drawing is a near-perfect match for the finished mural. Because the results were almost equal to the sketch, the City of Lauderhill felt confident to commission Georgeta Fondos for several more public mural projects.

MORE ABOUT CHOOSING MURALS OVER WALLPAPER FOR HOMES AND BUSINESSES
If you want to make a statement with a mural: make it an accent wall and paint the rest of the space a solid color.
Gaze at this accent wall mural of Venice for my client’s theatre room in the Aventura. My client wanted this scene painted to showcase their Italian heritage and to add a focal point to the room. I painted this mural onto canvas and applied it as wallpaper because my client wanted the possibility of reinstalling it into their vacation home. Unlike wallpaper, murals on canvas are durable and can be removed with a low risk of damage by a trained muralist.

Scenic murals can add nature to any space.
Scenic murals feature sceneries such as rolling hills, beaches, forests, and other man-made
or natural landscapes. These paintings need a skilled muralist who can not only paint these scenes but blend in with the rest of the room. Have a glance at this Tuscan mural for my client in Parkland, Florida. My client wanted to add a Tuscan landscape featuring rolling green hills and rows of vineyards; I painted the trim and walls to coordinate with this palette to unify the look.

Murals can be painted on canvas in a studio and installed like wallpaper.
This mural-on-canvas is an artist copy (meaning a hand-painted reproduction) of “Hippopotamus and Crocodile Hunt”, by Peter Paul Rubens, c 1615, with a few changes from the original painting. The original had a dead body on the bottom of the canvas and the client wanted it removed. I painted the mural on a canvas in the same style in my studio and shipped it to Mexico City. When it arrived, I installed it on the wall in the bar room. The client was very satisfied with how the entire room has changed.

Wallpaper and murals are susceptible to damage when exposed to humidity and the sun, but murals can be restored!
I could restore thisSepia Tropical Mural in Chinoiserie Style because the original muralist used acrylic paint and water-based sealant. Water-based sealants do not need to be removed for restoration; muralists can touch up right over. If this were wallpaper, a professional would need to remove the damaged area, and apply new wallpaper—that is, if you can buy it again. Not only that, but the surrounding area will also have faded and would no longer match. Therefore, many of my customers have switched from wallpaper to custom murals.
Tropical Sepia Mural Restoration
If you can have whatever design you want, customized to your unique space, and have it restored as needed—why choose wallpaper over murals? But now, how to find the right muralist for the job?
Here is what to search for when hiring a muralist or a decorative painter for your Florida home design project.
No matter what type of mural you want for your home, make sure you find a qualified muralist for your interior design project. Here is what you need to know before hiring a muralist for your Florida home.
Do your research.
Painting a mural requires skill, talent, and knowledge of types of paint, surfaces, and sealants. It is best to hire a muralist who knows the unique limits involved in both interior or exterior murals.
Once you find your muralist or decorative painter, set up a consultation. Prepare ideas, photos of the room, measurements of the walls. Focus on muralists with strong portfolios with a range of styles. Ask to see examples of similar work if available. You will want a muralist who can not only add textures to your wall but paint believable sceneries or 3-D faux trim! Many mural projects have multiple styles, such as a painted texture on one wall, with faux trim accents and a photorealistic scenery on the other wall!
Take pictures and measurements of the room and its layout.
When discussing your project, it is important to note immovable obstacles and high ceilings. Muralists need to know about accessibility restrictions as these affect cost! If you are thinking about painting ceilings, around staircases, or up tall walls, there will be additional charges (this is true for both wallpaper installation and mural painting). If special equipment such as lifts of scaffolding, those will be extra charges as well!
Chat with the artist about the paint they plan to use.
It is important to use high-quality paint that will not peel or chip. As mentioned before, make sure the acrylic painted mural is protected with a water-based sealer. Water-based sealers do not need to be removed before restoring. If you are looking for something more intricate, such as Fluorescent Painting, ask for examples of that as well!

Are you looking to have a mural painting restored? Make sure their skill level is suitable to paint over the original.
This Tennis Court Mural has been exposed to Florida’s hot humid weather for a decade. The homeowner wanted this outdoor mural restored and preserved to withstand the UV damage for as long as possible. But, because the mural went years without sealer, the damage was extensive, and he needed to find a skilled muralist with experience in outdoor murals. He found me through mypublic mural work and hired me for the job. This outdoor mural restoration project took many weeks, and when I finished, I protected it from the sun and humidity with an outdoor sealant.

HERE’S IS WHY MY CLIENTS CHOOSE MURALS OVER WALLPAPER FOR THEIR HOMES
Many home and business owners want to add a personal touch to their living space to make it truly their own. Two popular ways to do that are custom murals or wallpaper. I am here to tell you why my Florida clients choose custom murals for their living space instead of wallpaper. As a bonus, I will tell you everything you need to know about how to hire the perfect muralist for your mural project.
Why custom murals?
A hand-painted mural adds a “WOW” factor to your home or office space. Murals can be a simple accent, a decorative wall treatment, or even a serene landscape. Murals brighten up any space and can be a fun addition to a child’s room, family room, entry, or backyard. For those who love entertaining, murals spark a conversation and will make your house the coolest on the block.

Muralists can create any look you or your designer’s vision for your living space.
For this cozy low-ceiling room, Daniela wanted the style to be fun yet authentic for this 1920’s estate. I painted a light-colored mural featuring constellations–Gemini, Capricorn, Taurus, and Aries, with the sun, moon, and stars on a swirled cream background. Daniela furnished the room with antique art and furniture to complete the historic look of the room.

Custom ceiling murals can emphasize architectural elements—such as molding and vaulted ceilings.
This classical-inspired wall mural in Fort Lauderdale, Florida works with the round shape of the trim, to look like a domed ceiling with a technique called trompe l’oeil. Trompe l’oeil is French for “deceive the eye”. It is an art technique that creates the illusion of a three-dimensional object and is popular in murals and decorative painting.
But ceiling murals do not have to be an optical illusion, or complicated to be elegant! Look at this arabesque-inspired dining room. My client’s designer wanted the soft decor to balance the elaborate dining table and chairs. He requested that the arches be painted in two shades of apricot. On the ceiling, I graduated the two orange shades from dark to light to make the ceiling look taller, and to make the light from the chandelier appear brighter. This arabesque mural ends with a graphic medallion design at the base of each chandelier.
Wall-to-wall decorative painting adds atmosphere to any home.
This heavenly dining room decorative painting in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, adds atmosphere to this residential space. My client loves hosting dinner parties and wanted this space to be bright and to make her guests feel calm and at home. I painted the room with pillowy golden clouds in a pristine blue sky just before sunset. When the homeowner sold, this mural added value to her home, and she could get more than her asking price!
Dining Room Mural with Sky and Clouds. Mural on Wall. Trompe L’oeil Mural. Fort Lauderdale Murals.
Decorative painting and trompe l’oeil definitely add atmosphere to any space. This residential ceiling was painted for a client in Fort Lauderdale in her dining room area. The client inquired about a Classical-inspired mural with a sculptural relief surrounded by bougainvillea flowers on a soft, almost a sepia sky with clouds. The image below shows the scale of the ceiling and the process of painting bougainvillea flowers around the chandelier. The whole mural was painted freehand, and no stencils were used.
Residential Mural on Dining Room Ceiling. Trompe L’oeil Mural. Fort Lauderdale Murals.
Decorative paintings can also incorporate trompe l’oeil to create the illusion of filigree, trim, and crown molding.
For thisdecorative faux-painting project in the same house, see above, my client wanted hand-painted faux marble trim and stone walls but did not want to have to rebuild her entire entry. For projects like this, trompe l’oeil and faux painting are the perfect solutions! Faux painting means to paint to a surface to look like stone, inlaid wood, or enamel. This free-hand decorative painting includes faux-painted marble arches, completed with the relief of a cornucopia painted into the keystones. The inside of the arches features faux filigree and 3-D stone trim. I painted the remaining walls solid green and faux stone to make the room complete.

Learn more about Trompe L’oeil Mural in the next Blog below!
Trompe l’oeil murals are intended to create an illusion of three-dimensional space, and this technique works great for murals. In 2015 Garden of Life commissioned me to design and paint a trompe l’oeil mural, called “B the Change”, for one of the company’s conferences rooms.
At Garden of Life, they work to create a positive impact for their employees, community, and the environment. Garden of Life is a Certified B Corporation, meaning they meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose.
The company wanted an inspiring trompe l’oeil mural for the IT Conference Room, to keep their employees energized and to serve as a reminder for their overall mission as a B Corporation; to use their business for good!
Corporate Mural B THE CHANGE, Garden of Life Headquarters, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida
I used realistic imagery to create an optical illusion that the depicted objects exist in three dimensions: the conference room mural features the enlarged, transparent, floating in space B Corporation logo, cast over a beautiful farm field with wind turbines. On the field itself, the Garden of Life values are featured: Social practices, environmental performance, transparency, and accountability, which are floating above the rows of plants coming towards the viewer.
In the adjacent field, I painted the Garden of Life logo next to the official Certified B Corporation logo. Together, these elements portray their commitment as a Certified B Corporation and Garden of Life’s rigorous standards for quality products and the farmers that grew them.

One of the Garden of Life’s conference rooms has recently been transformed with an ambitious trompe l’oeil Treehouse mural. The idea was to create a space that felt casual, inviting, and imaginative. This conference room mural was designed to transform the meeting space into an actual treehouse. The mural is realistic, using the trompe l’oeil technique, which means ‘to fool the eye’, meaning to trick the eye into perceiving the painted area as a real, three-dimensional space.
Treehouse Conference Wall Mural
The main wall mural represents a three-dimensional trompe l’oeil scene with the treehouse room being ‘expanded’ in space. This makes the room appear much larger than in real life. For this, I used a one-point perspective to create the illusion of depth. The treehouse floor, meeting with the treehouse walls, a window to the outside, and a floor entrance, with an intricately painted Florida mockingbird resting on the door.
Mural Artist Georgeta Fondos Painting a Mockingbird
In 2019 I painted the Florida mockingbird for the first time in my Public Art Mural, called In the Park, awarded by the City of Lauderhill. This was a realistic depiction of the bird. This trompe l’oeil mural was inspired by Westwind Park’s nature, a place with singing birds, geese, ducks, ibises, woodpeckers, mockingbirds, blue jays, and butterflies. With these projects, I learned that Florida designated the mockingbird (Mimus polyglottos) as the official state bird in 1927. I was amazed by this bird’s singing talents and fell in love with it.
Wall Mural detail with Birds
The Treehouse Mural has other components to it that make it look like a real treehouse. On the “floor”, you will notice a gas lantern, a sleeping bag, a milk crate, and a guitar resting, all painted in trompe l’oeil, making it a realistic space. To add to its three dimensions, I painted tree branches coming through the window, a dartboard with darts popping out at you, a VEGAN logo, and a weathered “STOP no GMOs” Stop sign, and a paper sign, saying “KEEP OUT! NO GLUTEN”.
Vegan Logo Painting
At the head of the meeting room, the treehouse mural continues. On the headwall, you will see the battered signs for verified NON-GMO and USDA organic, with the sky peeking in through loose boards of the treehouse. The TV Monitor looks like a window–especially when beautiful scenery is on TV, like in the picture below!
Treehouse Mural View
While some companies would choose to hire a faux finisher, to paint fake boards and windows for a treehouse, with custom-made metal signs somewhere in an overseas shop, the decision to hire a trompe l’oeil muralist allowed them to make the room feel larger, and create the same look, in a much more artistic, and environmentally friendly way, which furthers their mission as a B-Corporation and LEED Gold Certified workplace.

GLOW-IN-THE-DARK BLACK-LIGHT JELLYFISH MURAL FOR AN ECCENTRIC LIVING SPACE
Sea Murals painted with fluorescent and glow-in-the-dark paints are beautiful with lights on. Yet, they truly come to life under black lights. Blacklightmurals are perfect for dark spaces such as bars, museums, bowling alleys, roller-rinks, bars, restaurants, and more.
How blacklight works:Blacklight interacts with white and bright neon-colored paint. Paint that emits visible light is luminescent paint. Fluorescent and phosphorescent paint emit visible, glowing light. Radioluminescent paint uses an unsafe radioactive isotope to provide light.
My client requested various large-scale jellyfish. He wanted the mural painted with fluorescent paint, which glows under a black light. This Fluorescent Jellyfish Mural is located in a residential modern home in Deerfield Beach, Florida. The color palette is subdued with the traditional lights on. Only under the black lights, the jellyfish take on an ‘electric, magnificent quality. They are intricate, detailed, painted with many layers to achieve a consistent look. The electrifying colors of each jellyfish create a dynamic space that makes you feel like you are surrounded by a real school of jellyfish.
Residential Fluorescent Mural with Jellyfish, Deerfield Beach, Florida
If you are looking for a glowing sea mural, glow-in-the-dark paints are the solution in case you do not want to use backlights. However, the fluorescent paints offer a richer, more sophisticated palette, and I recommend considering it over the limited palette of the glow-in-the-dark paints. Below, see an image of the jellyfish as seen with regular lights, with no blacklights on.

Sea Murals Inspiration for Your Home or Business in South Florida
Aquatic murals are in high demand.
South Florida is renowned for snorkeling, beautiful reefs, and clear water—making it a popular mural design. But there are so many things to consider when planning an aquatic mural-size, space, setting, and of course… sea life! If you are looking for inspiration for your underwater mural in South Florida – look no further! I have various examples of sea murals, big, small, indoor, outdoor, residential, and commercial. Whether you are looking for a glow-in-the-dark jellyfish mural, a large-scale coral reef public art mural, or a miniature porthole mural, I am sure this will guide you to the perfect concept for your next mural.
Murals give identity to space and make people happier with their surroundings.
The Red Reef Park Mural in Boca Raton, Florida is a colorful outdoor sea turtle mural portraying two young kids snorkeling. The boy and girl are exploring their underwater surroundings, discovering a sea turtle, its baby, and yellowtail snapper fish. This 6×6 foot snorkeling mural on concrete invites visitors to reflect on the sea turtle conservation efforts of Gumbo Limbo – a nature center within the Red Reef Park. This mural mirrors the values of the park and the nature center, to inspire the community to protect wildlife for generations to come.

With mural art, scale is an enormous factor — especially with aquatic murals.
RESIDENTIAL PORTHOLE WINDOW MURAL WITH SEA LIFE, Lantana, Florida
Large-Scale Underwater Murals.
Aquatic murals on a large scale can transform an empty wall into an exciting pictorial space, submerging the visitors into a new place. See below the outdoor street muralthat I painted for the Riviera Beach community, Florida, in 2019. I dedicated this panoramic aquatic mural to the Phil Foster Park Snorkeling Trail, a local international destination known for exotic and rare species of marine life. The snorkeling mural is a whopping 15×53 feet in size with the octopusmeasuring at approximately 15×15 feet! It engulfs visitors up close and is large enough to be visible from far away. This monumental size mural transforms the space to make the visitor feel like a tiny fish in a massive coral reef. It educates visitors on life in the Phil Foster artificial reef and inspires them to explore it for themselves!
SNORKELING TRAIL MURAL WITH DIVERS, Riviera Beach, Florida
Small-Scale Mural Art Inspiration.
In contrast, if you want your sea mural to feel intimate, then a smaller scale mural such as this porthole window mural, on stucco is a perfect option. For this mural, my client wanted a porthole window, with a view of the sea to add an accent to his blank wall. In the “window”, he wanted a large sea turtle, yellow fish, and coral reef. I incorporated all of this into the porthole mural design and at the very end of the project, I added a diver in the background, upon request from my client. While this detail was last minute, the scale of the diver in contrast with coral and sea turtle added more depth and focal point to this miniature mural, which my client loved.
Aquatic Murals will turn a common space into an iconic space.
Murals transform patio and pools into inspiring spaces. For instance, I transformed a drab concrete patio wall into a calming and colorful oasis for the Children’s Cancer Center Infusion Garden at Broward Health Medical Center in Davie, Florida. They commissioned this underwater mural to bring joy to children, inform them about various local sea life, while bringing them a sense of tranquility. It also provides inspiration for their own playtime and art projects. I designed a soothing patio mural to fit the crescendo shape of the 6×28’ concrete wall, featuring a dolphin, ushering her calf from the coral reef to the sea. For materials, I used artist-grade acrylic paints for their vibrant color, lack of fumes, and longevity.

CONFERENCE ROOM MURALS FOR THE GARDEN OF LIFE LLC
Garden of Life LLC has inquired for trompe l’oeil style murals, which would integrate their mission and commitment to quality products into the company’s workplace visually. I have painted about nine murals so far: conference room murals, lobby murals, and hallway murals. At the Garden of Life headquarters in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, each conference room mural showcases its values and its mission to Empowering Extraordinary Health®. Below, read about three conference room murals. You can find more information and images of each mural on the website under ‘commercial murals’.
At the Garden of Life, products are USDA organic, certified non-GMO, RAW, whole food nutritional products. The company has requested a classical mural in trompe l’oeil style with a twist: a landscape with an organic farm, with large-scale fruits and veggies floating in space, and with logos associated with the company. The murals extend on two conference room walls facing each other.
CORPORATE MURAL, MainConference Room, Garden of Life LLC, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Starting from the left, this commercial mural showcases a landscape background with valleys, hills, and a river. Fruits and vegetables are bursting out of the Garden of Life logo, spreading on both sides of the mural. The USDA Organic logo is resting on the fields.
CORPORATE MURAL Main Conference Room, Garden of Life LLC, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida
The landscape continues into the right wall, with a tree growing from celery root and transforming into other tree species. The Garden of Life hand-painted motto, “Empowering Extraordinary Health®” is floating on an enlarged celery leaf bunch and the NON-GMO logo is resting on a field with crops. Other featured logos in the Garden of Life conference room mural include the Gluten-Free and Vegan. They wanted to make sure these logos were easy to see in the meeting space, so they could wow potential clients and hires with all their prestigious accolades.
CORPORATE MURAL, Main Conference Room, Garden of Life LLC, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Mural artist Georgeta Fondos
For the meeting room mural, “the Market”, Garden of Life suggested showing the relationship of whole-food ingredients, that they carefully select to be in their health supplements on the market. This meeting room mural is the only mural that features the manufactured products we know Garden of Life for. For Garden of Life, everything begins with quality whole foods
and this conference room trompe l’oeil mural is no exception.
THE MARKET CORPORATE MURAL, the Market Conference Room, Garden of Life LLC, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida
The initial design with a vintage-style market was provided by the company. I had to transform the design based on the wall size and orientation. I gave the mural a 3D twist, in a trompe l’oeil style, which helps create the illusion of space through the many items in the mural: the table full of farm-fresh produce for sale, outside of a market window, complete with a chalkboard menu and hanging lights. Through the “window” one can see stocked shelves of packaged Garden of Life products–the result of the fresh organic produce resting on the market table.

COMMERCIAL MURALS FOR OFFICE AND LOBBY, by Georgeta Fondos
Corporate murals are a great way to invigorate any space in a storefront or reception area. No matter the style of the mural, it will reward you with happier employees and customers. As an international muralist in South Florida, I have painted many commercial murals in my career. Read on to see a few commercial murals that Liberty Laundromat, Broward Medical Center, and Garden of Life Headquarters chose for their spaces in South Florida!
Liberty Laundromat, LLC, is a laundromat in South Florida, owned by a 29-year U.S. Air Force Active-Duty Service Member. As is common with Laundromats, customers spend lots of time in the waiting area while their laundry spins in the washer and dryers. The owner wanted to make the space more inviting in a way that was on-brand and brought peace and hope to his mostly immigrant customers with a lobby mural.
The owner of Liberty Laundromat commissioned the LIBERTY MURAL as a traditional, patriotic mural, featuring the American flag, the Statue of Liberty, and a soaring eagle against a calming deep blue sky. He wanted the mural to be seen by those passing by; the mural is located by the storefront window and in front of the seating area. This commercial mural not only inspired his customers but also made a beautiful, on-brand, window display for those passing by.

SEA MURAL at the Children’s Cancer Center, Broward Medical Center, Broward County, Florida.
The Sea Mural is an outdoor commercial mural for the Broward Medical Center in the Children’s Cancer Center. These centers need to be a relaxing environment, with beautiful stimuli to keep patients, caretakers, and doctors at ease. For the Children’s Cancer Center, we wanted to create a colorful, inspiring, and tranquil space—what can do that better than a vibrant sea mural?
SEA MURAL, Broward Medical Center, Davie
For this outdoor commercial mural, the soothing sunlit crystal-clear water is teeming with a world of aquatic life; colorful fish, coral, a dolphin, and its calf, all swimming together in one direction. The calming waters and vibrant colors are comforting to parents and children at the cancer center, but to the doctors as well. Broward Medical Center was so thrilled that they commissioned to create a second commercial mural for the adult cancer center.
LOBBY MURAL, Garden of Life LLC, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, 2021
Garden of Life is a health supplement brand, focusing on creating products made from USDA organic, certified non-GMO, RAW, whole food. For their lobby, Garden of Life requested a trompe l’oeil mural that would make the employees and the customers feel like entering an actual garden of life!
The lobby mural for the Garden of Life is featured on the entire wall behind the reception desk. For this lobby mural, I painted large, puffy white clouds over a vibrant green pasture. From above, I framed the view with various fruit-bearing branches of apple and ashwagandha. From below, colorful plumes of flowering ginger and cranberries rise behind the reception desk. Together, the branches of fruit, and the flowering plumes and berries from below, frame the back-lit Garden of Life logo sign at the center.

How I left Europe to become a Mural Artist in South Florida
Art is a calling. As any artist will tell you, art consumes you at a young age; it follows you throughout life, working its way into everything you do. My name is Georgeta Fondos and I am a South Florida muralist with an international reputation. At just the age of 10, I left my small, idyllic rural home in Hancesti, Moldova, U.S.S.R., to attend the prestigious Republican Boarding School of Visual Fine Arts (Liceul Academic de Arte Plastice “Igor Vieru”), a rigorous school for talented young artists in the capital city, Chisinau. Unbeknownst to me, this would be the catalyst of my career as a mural artist in the United States and beyond. Read on to learn more about my life as an artist and how I came to be a mural artist in the sunny South Florida.
Art Education in Moldova
Like most U.S.S.R. Art Academies, training in such schools focused on mastering academic fine art techniques. I learned to draw and paint, and to replicate any art style in mediums such as graphite, charcoal, watercolor and oil painting—an essential skill for a professional muralist. I learned to weave large scale tapestries and batik painting on silk cloth. For my Bachelor of Fine Arts, I specialized in Textile Art, at the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts of Moldova. After my bachelor’s degree, I was hungry for more and I enrolled in the Ph.D. Studies in Textile Arts at the Institute of Theory and Art History of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova.
Higher Education in Greece and United States
In 2000, I halted my Ph.D. Textile studies for an opportunity to study on a scholarship from the State Foundation of Greece, at the Athens School of Fine Art. This was a time of new artistic freedom for me: I explored abstract art in acrylics, a new medium for me. In the meantime, Greek landscapes and architecture fascinated me; my love for classical antiquity of ancient Greece rekindled my love for oil painting. I found myself immersed in its history and symbolism; it became a part of my artistic expression for traditional oil paintings for commercial galleries.
After my postgraduate studies in Greece, I uprooted myself from the European school system to study at Florida Atlantic University, in Boca Raton; I felt it was my home at once. The master’s program was not only the challenge I craved, but Boca Raton had the terrain that inspired me in Greece, and friendly people in a thriving art community. At the Florida Atlantic University, I fused ‘tradition’ with ‘invention’, through painting murals and experimenting with synthetic textiles in my studio.
Textile Installation ‘Visions’ 2015 10×12 feet Scorched Synthetic Fabric, The Projects, FAT VIllage, Fort Lauderdale
My experience in Greece bloomed in my work, such as the Rotunda ceiling wall mural, Florida Impressions, featured at the City of Lauderhill Chamber.
FLORIDA IMPRESSIONS DOME IN ROTUNDA MURAL, Public Art, City of Lauderhill Chamber, Lauderhill, Florida
MURAL DESIGN FOR THE DOME IN ROTUNDA MURAL, Lauderhill City Hall Chamber, Florida.
This dome in rotunda ceiling mural started with a few elaborate watercolor designs, in which my skills as a mural artist melded with my artistic life in Greece and South Florida. Using the once colorful Greek Parthenon, a symbol of democracy as my muse, I exchanged the flora and fauna of Greece with the local birds, flowers, plants and trees of South Florida, in the trompe l’oeil mural painting technique. My intention for this mural concept was to pay homage to the democracy of the City of Lauderhill.
FLORIDA IMPRESSIONS DOME IN ROTUNDA MURAL, Public Art, City of Lauderhill Chamber, Lauderhill, Florida
The project was so well received that the City of Lauderhill awarded me a second public art project, a large scale mural called Lauderhill Story, painted on a 27-feet long curved wall, featured in the East Entrance Hallway at the City of Lauderhill.
LAUDERHILL STORIES, Public Art, Mural on the East Curved Wall, City of Lauderhill, Lauderhill, Florida
Later on, a third project, for creating a concept design called Music, for a terrazzo floor, featured at the Performing Arts Center of Lauderhill LPAC.
MUSIC Terrazzo Floor, Public Art, Lauderhill Performing Arts Center, Lauderhill, Florida
CUSTOM DESIGN for TERRAZZO FLOOR with abstract musical notes and musical instruments for the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center
Most recently, a forth public art mural project, the wall mural In the Park, featured at the Westwind Park Community Center, Lauderhill.
Wall Mural In the Park, awarded by the City of Lauderhill
After my first Public Art commissioned mural in the United States, the City of Lauderhill Chamber’s Dome in Rotunda painting, I grew my client base and my local reputation as a muralist with it. Soon I became a well known muralist and elected again by other cities, like City of Oakland Park (Firefighters Mural), City of Miami (Art Deco Mural), City of Riviera Beach (Snorkeling Trail) , City of Boca Raton (Red Reef Park), and City of Coral Springs (Historic Bridge Murals).
My specialty as a muralist
Since arriving to South Florida, my career as a muralist and textile artist has been full of opportunities. My mastery of techniques and styles has earned me commissions to create one-of-a-kind murals and textiles, based on my clients ideas. I have designed various murals fromgraphicand abstract— toclassicalandmodernand worked with many unconventional materials: I painted aresidential Jellyfish Muralwith black light paints and worked on surfaces, such as stucco,Rainforest Mural and painted on a convex-shaped keel bulb of a racing boatPin-up Girl, and even painted a mobile mural on a side of asemitrailer!
In South Florida, you will find my murals in private collections, residential, commercial spaces, outdoorandindoorpublic art and in museums. The demand for my skill set as a muralist and textile artist has brought my art and murals all over the world to places such as Greece, Mexico, Lithuania, Switzerland and Moldova.
It’s still crazy to me that my hunger to learn about art and textiles took me from a small town in Moldova, to living in Southern Florida as a traveling muralist. I am so excited to call southern Florida my home, and love the community. If you are researching a muralist for your upcoming project, reach out and we will start the conversation. No project is too big, too small, or too complicated. I love to explore new mediums and unique surfaces and can travel anywhere in the world—South Florida and beyond!

This magnificent terrazzo floor is an abstract representation of music, based on my digital custom design. The project is featured in the main lobby of the Performing Arts Center of Lauderhill (LPAC). It was completed by a terrazzo professional team custom design.
As an artist, I am versed in both realistic and abstract styles. Starting at the age of eleven, I was trained in schools focused on mastering academic fine art techniques. I loved to draw and paint, and I learned to replicate many art styles in different mediums such as graphite, charcoal, watercolor and oil painting, and even textiles. Later on, I learned to create abstract designs for large-scale tapestries and batik.

ART DECO MURAL ON SINGER ISLAND BLUE HERON BRIDGE, awarded by the Riviera Beach CRA
In March 2020 I had the pleasure to work on yet another great mural art project with the Riviera Beach CRA. This time this was a uniquely shaped wall – a long 90-feet long barrier wall, located at the East end of the Blue Heron Bridge on Singer Island.
Art Deco Street Mural on Singer Island, awarded by the Riviera Beach CRA
I did some research on Singer Island and Riviera Beach. I learned that Singer Island was named for Paris Singer, a Parisian Palm Beach Developer (1930s). I thought of the times when Paris Singer was around and the art styles that were favored in those times. I chose the Art Deco style, relevant to the times of Paris Singer’s stay in Florida. I create a ‘traditional’ custom mural design on paper, in pencil, painted with watercolor. I took my time to figure out a way that would transform an ‘ugly’ barrier wall into a 3D mural, giving it more depth and make it a landmark in the area. I wanted this to be a design that had a flow, inviting the people passing by to follow its continuous, flowing imagery as they were passing by.
